Gilsang Jo

Gilsang was born and raised in Incheon, South Korea. He majored in English Language Education at Inha University, graduated as a department valedictorian, and worked as a licensed public school English teacher for three years before coming to the US at age 29. He obtained his M.A. in TESOL in Minnesota in 2018 from Saint Cloud State University and moved to New York City to attend Teachers College, Columbia University, where he has been studying applied linguistics since 2019. From 2020 to 2021, Gilsang also taught Korean online to American college students through Teachers College, Columbia University. Being a language nerd, his hobby is learning other languages. He studied Russian, German, French, and Farsi in the past, and now speaks Spanish at an upper intermediate level.
