  • The introductory course immerses you in the essentials of the Korean language, unraveling the intricacies of Hangeul, the Korean alphabet. This course navigates the creation and principles of Hangeul, honing your ability to construct syllable blocks and master pronunciation. It ends with basic expressions that are useful in daily conversation and classroom settings. By the end of the course, you will be able to read, write, and pronounce any Korean phoneme.

  • This course provides you with a foundation in Korean communication. You will learn vocabulary and grammar that can be used for a basic conversation about one’s nationality, grade level, hobbies, academic majors, and occupations. You will learn to exchange greetings, ask and answer “what is” questions with “is” and “is not” verb conjugations, and construct a variety of present tense sentences using the S-O-V order. By the end of the course, you will be able to introduce yourself, ask basic questions to get acquainted to your fellow classmates, and invite someone to do an activity together.

  • This course builds on our Beginner 1 class, exploring essential language tools for everyday interactions. The course covers asking and answering “how” and “what” questions, basic commands, honorifics, topic and subject markers, and counting classifiers. New vocabulary includes Korean-Sino and Korean numbers, household items, and family members. By the end of the course, you will be able to discuss one’s housing situation, exchange phone numbers, order food and drinks, talk about one’s family members, and count objects and people.

  • This course expands the breadth of your communication ability. You will be introduced to the past tense and past perfect tense as you learn to talk about daily schedules, creating plans, weather, Korean food and recipes. You will practice applying Korean numbers in a variety of everyday uses such as temperature, months, dates, days of the week, and time. By the end of the course, you will be able to talk about one’s daily agenda, weather and temperature, Korean food and more.

  • This course aims to expand your communication skills to different occasions and audiences. You will be introduced to non-honorifics and further develop honorifics. Grammar includes suggestions, asking for permission, future tense, negations, and conjunction endings. These grammatical concepts are practiced through new vocabulary covering active verbs, adjectives, and hobbies.

  • This course is for learners who have already gained a solid foundation of Korean and is suitable for preparing for the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK). This course covers Korean university culture, sharing one’s Korean travel experiences, and traditional Korean holidays and customs. You will learn sentence patterns to express reported statements that others have made (“~다고/~라고 하다”) and new realizations (“I found out/realized that~”, “I did not know that~”). You will also be introduced to speaking in casual, non-honorific speech styles.

This course covers topics such as modes of transportation, popular sports, one’s favorite dramas and movies, and different types of housing.   • At this course, you can learn advanced level expressions, a variety of sentence patterns with practicing text book activities.The textbook arranges lessons with authentic materials that focus on real daily situations. Helps learners to be familiarized with grammar structures or vocabulary by giving simple explanations and offering fun various activities. Enables learners to communicate their thoughts in real situations naturally. At the class, you will have practiced writing sentences and short paragraphs in Korean and you can improve your spelling and writing accuracy.

  • Advanced Korean 2 (Reading and Discussion) courses are for students who can speak Korean fluently without excessive mistakes. Students will expand their vocabulary, learn and deploy colloquial expressions and idioms, and understand common grammar rules in Korean. In the class, students will use reading materials such as short stories and news articles as a basis for discussion and exploration. Some reading materials will be provided by the instructor.
