Amanda Grant
While being raised in a Brazilian American household, Amanda has always had a curiosity and deep connection with learning more about different languages and cultures. Her 10+ year journey with Korea began at the University of Minnesota, where she earned a B.A. in Asian Languages and Literature with a double minor in TESOL and Linguistics. After receiving a Fulbright Grant, she spent two years teaching English at a high school on Jeju Island, before earning an M.A. in Korean for Professionals from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. While there, she built up her now mastery skills in education through tutoring intermediate-level students in Korean and worked as a graduate assistant in the Korean Flagship Office.
After graduating, Amanda continued teaching Korean to private students and also became the Education Program Officer at The Korea Society in New York City, where she single-handedly managed the Korean Language Program. She also developed and led extracurricular Korean classes focused on mastering the Korean alphabet and created speaking-focused materials for all levels, serving over 300 students. Now an administrator at NYU, she continues to teach Korean in her free time.
With experience teaching students of all ages in diverse contexts, Amanda thrives on bringing Korean to life for each student, helping them build confidence, form meaningful connections with the language, and have fun along the way!
